Individualized Nutrition Counseling for Weight Loss - Denver CO

We offer personalized weight loss counseling in Denver Colorado. The standard fare that we eat today is not what our grandmothers ate.  There are fewer whole foods and more processed and packaged foods. Food today has more additives, preservatives, artificial colorings, environmental toxins, and pesticides and hidden fats and sugars.  It has fewer vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.  Generally, our foods are more convenient, but less healthy.

In our standard American diet there are a lot of empty calories versus nutrient-dense calories.  Foods are less filling, having less fiber, so we are eating more calories in order to feel full.  Changing the types of foods we choose will help shed pounds.  Unnatural foods are not used as well by our bodies.  The chemicals from processed foods cause liver congestion, which inhibits fat metabolism and causes us to hold on to fat.  Excess sugar in the diet will also contribute to fat storage.  Your body can only use so much sugar.  The excess gets stored as fat.  Not eating enough food and calories can cause your body’s metabolism to slow down causing your body to store food as fat.  So, we want to create a working environment in the body that encourages it to let go of excess fat and use it for energy.

We’ll work together to minimize the standard American diet and maximize whole foods.  I’ll teach you how to incorporate more vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients into your daily diet by eating healthy doses of fruits and veggies, protein, healthy fats and plenty of water. I’ll coach you with snack ideas, menu plans, and recipes.  I can clean out your pantry and ‘frige, take you on a grocery store tour, teach you to really look at ingredient lists.  It is hard to break those old habits, so we will take it slow, one step at a time, replacing the “bad” with “good.” We’ll also look for unbalanced hormones, liver congestion, causes of internal and external stress, food allergens and intolerances, and more. All of these things could contribute to bloating, and your body holding on to fat, especially middle torso fat.  Everyone is different.  What is going on with you?
