The GAPS diet was specifically developed for people struggling with learning, processing, and attention issues.  It has also helped people with skin issues, significant allergy problems, and autoimmune problems including Celiac disease. It is well known that 85% of the human immune system is located in the digestive tract. The GAPS diet balances our immune system from the inside out as well as calms autoimmune storms, and alleviates all kinds of signs and symptoms (skin, focus, concentration, writing, reading, behavior problems, etc.)  The immune system in the digestive tract naturally strengthens because of the foods we eat.

 

The GAPS diet creates a balanced gut flora environment through diet and targeted supplementation. Rooting out the ‘opportunistic’ gut flora via natural detoxification, and boosting ‘beneficial gut flora’ through food and supplementation to help balance the body and strengthen the immune system. Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride, the author, believes that “if the body is given what it needs, it will heal itself.” Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride developed this diet for her son, who was diagnosed with autism. There are two phases of this diet: the Introductory Phase and Full GAPS-phase two. The Introductory Phase is broken into 6 steps or stages.  Depending on your signs and symptoms, I will recommend where you should start, and provide you with food guidelines, menu plans, snack suggestions, recipes, and ongoing support.  I suggest all prospective clients read the GAPS Diet book by Dr. McBride.  In it, it clarifies and answers many questions.  I serve as chief supporter, clarifier, trouble-shooter and advisor for you & your family.
